| Ettie Ruth Pate’s Bio
A native Texan, I was born in Nacogdoches and moved to Houston when I was two years old. My love for nature started as a child. In Elementary School, I was considered “artist of the class”. I took art classes in high school and won ribbons on my oil and watercolor paintings. In 1975, I began to paint seriously, taking classes and workshops from many prominent teachers and instructors, and began a journey that started with painting flowers, landscapes, animals, etc. to painting portraits.
Much of my inspiration comes from my travels throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
My style of painting is both realists and impressionist which have received numerous first place ribbons and are in private collections throughout the United States and Europe.
My goal as an artist is to portray the beauty of nature in my paintings – the birds, animals in their natural habitat - flowers, mountains, waterfalls, etc. Just being able to capture a small fraction of God’s beautiful creation on canvas brings a joy and peace to my inner being.
